Michelle Luckey Rowton has been involved with purebred dogs since 1968, and obtained her first Borzoi Am. Can. Ch. Troykov’s Noble Thunderbird “Thunder” from Helen Dayton (Troykov Borzoi) in 1977. In 1978 Michelle was Oregon State Grand Champion in 4-H Junior Handling, with her Great Dane Lincoln’s Lucky Libra, and put multiple obedience titles on her Doberman, Laurel Acres Casino.
Kenai (Keen Eye) was chosen as my kennel name for the play on words. Sighthounds, keen eyes, however most folks think we are from Alaska. I was 14, little did I know!
Starting at the age of 14 I was fortunate enough to have showed Thunder to both his American and Canadian Title, his wins included group firsts and several Specialty Best in Shows. Thunder was the beginning of my love for this breed.
Limited breeding over the years has produced several champions including multiple Best in Show Dogs, Multiple Specialty winners at both Regional and National events, including Westminster, Lure Coursing Champions and Obedience Champions, in a multitude of countries.
Kenai’s goals over the years has been to develop companion Borzoi the possess a blend of Function, Health, and Beauty.
In 2004 I adopted a very large Doberman from Multnomah County Animal Services. “Stetson” quickly became a very big part of the Kenai Family and rekindled my love of Dobermans hence our new endeavor into the wonderful world of Wind River Dobermans.
